The new guest room designs for the Marriott brand have a custom look and feel, offering owners and franchisees for the first time more choice and flexibility, but at the attractive price of a standard prototype.
Using fresh, engaging color palettes, the new room décor packages also accomplish a key mandate for Marriott's iconic brand – helping the "performance guest" work, relax and recharge for the day ahead.
"This year, Marriott is creating and deploying separate and distinct interior designs for three of its full-service brands: Marriott, JW and Renaissance brands," said Don Semmler, executive vice president, global full-service brands, for Marriott International. "Our world-class internal design team, led by Teri Urovsky and Glenn Wilson, developed and executed each brand's design strategies."
Through the use of sophisticated 3-D modeling design visualization software, Marriott's Architecture & Construction team was able to create interchangeable designs for three exciting and new Marriott Hotels & Resorts guest room styles that offer owners and franchisees options and flexibility, all within an approved and cost effective structure.
"We had two goals for these new décor packages," said Brad Bryan, executive vice president, Marriott International's Architecture & Construction department. "First, we needed to create a room environment that delivers on the Marriott Hotels & Resorts brand promise, ‘Tomorrow is a new opportunity to do something great,' in which a good night's sleep is vital and a comfortable, restful and functional room is critical. Our other goal was to design guest room décor concepts in record time and offer unprecedented flexibility to our owners. These three concepts offer literally hundreds of design combinations, and yet they will save approximately 20 percent from the cost generally associated with a custom project."
Marriott's A&C team based each package on design trend research in fashion, home furnishings and retail. Following are the three room décor packages now available for Marriott Hotels & Resorts guest rooms:
- Refreshing Mint is inspired by nature. A fresh green palette and organic elements provide a calming retreat.
- Splashes of mint green compliment the rich chocolate brown present in the carpet and accents. Dark burgundy wine upholstery with deep pattern texture that is utilized on the ottoman and accents is unexpected, but compliments this new and exciting color palette.
- Sienna Glow , also organic by nature, uses deep, rich colors such as coral and chocolate brown with a touch of golden beige to create a place of respite. The color palette offers a distinct difference that stimulates the guest senses.
- Golden Rouge is Marriott's current design package updated with new carpet designs and decorative bed scarf offerings. Minor updates capture additional golden tones and strong red and black accents provide a great package with a fresh new look and feel that is relevant.
Within each of the three décor packages, Marriott owners and franchisees can select from various options for the following:
- Richly textured decorative bed scarves
- Guest room carpets in multiple patterns and colors
- Accent lounge chair pillows
- Guest room corridor carpets to suit different building types and styles
In addition to the choices offered, each package has the following elements designed specifically for that package to create the overall concept: new lighting, art packages, desk chair, wall coverings and window treatments. The renewed bath provides a luxurious spa-like experience for guests, with white Quartz vanity top, case goods within the room, and a shower only and barn door option for appropriate markets.
Purchase ready specifications are now available. General selections are cost neutral to the previous MHR package (excluding the installation of the redesigned guest bath).
Estimated delivery times of products range from 18-20 weeks. The first properties to implement the new décor packages will be the 353-room Hanover Marriott Hotel in Whippany, New Jersey; the 334-room Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center in Houston; the 1,408-room Philadelphia Marriott Downtown Convention Center, and the 364-room Boston Marriott Quincy Hotel in Quincy, Massachusetts.
