
The expanding tourism industry in Turkey encourages investors to new hotel projects. In the next three years 65 new four and five star hotels should arise.
This data has been revealed by TOPHOTELPROJECTS, the worldwide leading provider for global b2b hotel data. While in the past the Western and Southern coastal areas were the most important locations, more foreign and domestic companies are interested in projects in the rising cities in Anatolia.
Turkey will expand its hotel capacity. Due to the attractive prospects in the tourism industry, several of domestic and foreign hotel companies are developing new projects, which will lead up to a brisk demand of hotel equipment.
According to a study from the Turkish economy magazine "Ekonomist" during the next three years 65 new four and five star hotels with a total number of 38,853 beds will arise, thereof 40 five star hotels with 31,476 beds and 25 four star hotels with 7,377 beds.
Investors take a closer look at AnatoliaIn the past 30 years the hotel companies' investment activity was mainly focused on the economic metropolis Istanbul as well as on the coastal areas at the Mediterranean Sea and on the Western tourism region. Since several years more and more investors are interested in the rising Anatolian cities such as Bursa, Denizli, Adana, Konya, Kayseri, Gaziantep, Samsun, Eskisehir and Malatya.
The Aydogan Insaat contractor will build a five star hotel with 150 rooms at the historic peninsula in the European part of Istanbul. The Bia Group plans to arise minimum several new hotels during the next five years in Istanbul and Anatolia. The hotel company Divan (Koc-Group) wants to increase the number of its hotels from currently 11 to 38 hotels until 2018. The association Elite World Hotel will start with the construction of a new hotel in Marmaris at the south western coast in 2014. In Istanbul the company wants to open a hotel with 380 rooms in 2015. In 2016 another Elite World hotel will open its doors in Maltepe, the Asian part of Istanbul.
The company Alkoclar Turizm plans to arise five city hotels with each 40 till 120 rooms in the cities Adana, Samsun, Denizli, Trabzon and Balikesir. The company Amplio recently signed a contract to open 15 hotels by brands Hilton and Garden Inn. The Astay group plans to build a hotel complex in Istanbul, Bodrum and Bolu.
Within the next four years the Eser group wants to arise three new hotels in Istanbul, Konya and in the Aegean region. The ETS tourism company plans to enhance its engagement in Antalaya and Bodrum and to build a new city hotel in Istanbul.
Also the Ever group plans the construction of 12 new hotels all over the country. The association Intourist Hotels, which operates the Maksim resort in Kemer, is going to arise 4 new beach hotels during the next three years between Kemer and Side at the southern coastal strip. The Intercontinental Hotels Group, who are currently operating 15 hotels in Turkey, announced the construction of eight further hotels.

The Limak group plans the investment of 100 million US Dollar until 2015 to arise a four and a five star golf hotel at the Mediterranean coast in Mersin/Tarsus. The tourism group Makyol wants to open three or four city hotels in the Istanbul districts Taksim, Karaköy and Sultanahmet during the next three years.
Also the Özak group plans the construction of city hotels in Istanbul/Balmumcu. Furthermore the company plans a hotel with 500 beds in Didim and a hotel complex with 550 beds in Analya/Demre. The textile company Petel Tekstil wants to arise a city hotel with 140 rooms at the historic peninsula Istanbul or in Taksim.
Wyndham Hotel Group plans to open 30 new HotelsThe Retaj group from Qatar, which opened the first Retaj hotel in Istanbul/Günesli, wants to put a hotel in Bursa and two hotels in Ankara into operation.
The Sarar group will arise a golf hotel and a thermal hotel in Eskisehir at an area size of 235,000 square meters. Within the next five years the Wyndham hotel group will open 30 hotels by the brands Ramada, Wyndham, Tryp and Days Inn in Istanbul, Izmir, Adana and other Anatolian cities. The hotel Hampton Inn by Hilton with 138 rooms will open their doors early-2014, whose construction in Samsun at the Black Sea costs 25 million Turkish lira. The Tanriverdi group, which opened 2013 a Shangri-La luxury hotel in the Istanbul district Besiktas, will arise a new 29-storey and 130 meter high Sheraton Hotel in Samsun with an investment volume of 60 million US Dollar.
The opening of the hotel with 200 rooms is scheduled for late-2014. The respective management contract with Starwood Hotels & Resorts was signed in August 2013. Another Starwood hotel by the brand Sheraton will open in Adana in October 2013. In September 2013 Starwood also signed a contract with the Turkish Demsa group for the management of the luxury hotel St. Regis in the Istanbul city district Macka, which will open in 2014. This project will cost 180 million US Dollar.
An enormous investment volume is provided for a winter sports centre Erciyes in the central Anatolian province Kayseri. Several holding associations plan large luxury hotel projects with a capacity of more than 16,000 beds. The hotels will open in 2014/15.
