The top hospitality in Switzerland currently undergoes an incomparable boom: after international renowned large projects such as Andermatt Swiss Alps and the high end luxury hotel the Alpina in Gstaad another outstanding landmark project is in the pipeline.
At the "Buergerstock", a rock high over the Lake of Lucerne in Central Switzerland the legendary resort will arise. A state fund from Qatar is investing 486 million Swiss francs. The opening of the first construction phase, the "Waldhotel" with 160 rooms and suites, will open its doors in 2017.

In total there are three resorts at the "Buergerstock" with 400 rooms and suites. Further the "Buergerstock" offers twelve restaurants and bars. After its finalisation the "Buergerstock Resorts" will feature 30 buildings on an area of more than a kilometre length with a panoramic view at the snow-capped Alps.
Some part of the project is already realized, thereof new tennis courts, the tavern "1879", the mountain restaurant "Hammetschwand", an energy center as well as new access and service road. The mountain restaurant is legendary with its free-standing lift, which is 152 meter high at a vertical rock wall. It is the highest outdoor lift in Europe.

Besides the "Buergerstock" resort also the "Schweizerhof" in Bern and the Royal Savoy in Lausanne as well as further luxury hotels in Europe belong to Katara Hospitality.
